01Purposes and scope

This policy covers public reading, display preferences, email tips and inquiries, and information needed to protect the service. We do not operate features that collect account details, payments, comments or submissions through a web inquiry form.

Inquiry information is used to understand and respond to the request, including reviewing corrections. If processing for a new purpose becomes necessary, we will provide notice and take the steps required by law.

02Information and how it is received

Reading the website, saving a browser preference and sending an email are separate activities. Clicking an email link alone does not transmit a message to Talos.

• Do not send identification numbers, copies of identity documents, health information or other information unnecessary for the inquiry.
• Before including someone else’s contact details or non-public material, check your authority to share it and the permitted scope of disclosure.

03Retention and deletion

Personal information is retained only as needed for its purpose and is deleted when no longer necessary. Inquiry records are managed with regard to the progress of the request and any necessary follow-up; information is not kept in use after that need ends.

Where a legal retention duty or an unresolved dispute requires preservation, use is restricted to that reason. You can ask the privacy contact whether a particular inquiry record is held and whether it can be deleted.

The saved display choice is removed when you select System or clear this site’s browser storage. Operational records are not used beyond fault and security handling to analyze readers’ interests or build advertising audiences.

04Deletion procedure and method

Before deleting information, we check whether its purpose has ended and whether preservation is legally necessary. Preserved records are restricted to the relevant purpose and deleted when the reason for preservation ends.

Electronic information is deleted so it cannot be restored for further use. If paper copies exist, they are disposed of by shredding or another method that makes the contents unreadable.

05Third-party disclosure and other uses

We do not sell inquiry contacts or messages or provide them as advertising lists. Personal information is not disclosed to third parties without the person’s consent or a legal basis.

If a tip may be published or verified with another party, we clarify what may be disclosed and any anonymity request. Sending an inquiry does not itself constitute consent to public disclosure of personal information.

06External services and links

Email links open in the mail service you choose. That service’s policy also applies to composing and sending the message; review it before sending.

When you follow a paper, article or conference link, the destination handles information independently. Providing an original-source link does not send Talos inquiry records to that website.

Where processing entrusted to a provider or an international transfer requires disclosure, the service, work involved and scope of processing must be identified and published. Contact the privacy address below to request information relevant to your inquiry.

07Browser storage and tracking

An explicit light or dark selection is saved in this browser’s local storage. It contains no name or email address and is used to display the same theme on a later visit. Language is determined by the language path in the address.

Scroll positions for navigation history entries may be held in browser session storage to restore your reading position when you go back or forward. This information is not used for visitor analytics or advertising.

Select System in the theme control to remove the saved choice and follow the device setting. You can also clear this site’s stored data through your browser. Reading articles and research remains available.

The website does not use tracking tools or cookies for advertising or visitor analytics. Display preferences are not used to identify readers or personalize advertising.

08Your rights and how to exercise them

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your personal information and withdraw consent. Provide only the minimum details needed to locate the record, such as the email address used and the date of the inquiry.

A legal representative or authorized agent may also make a request. Identity or authority may need to be verified to avoid disclosing someone else’s information. Where a request is restricted by law, the reason will be explained.

09Safeguards

The application limits abusive requests and checks inputs and error responses to reduce unnecessary disclosure. Its operational logging masks credential-like values and URL query strings.

Information is handled only as needed for the work, with a principle of not requesting unnecessary additional personal details. Please also avoid including another person’s information unnecessarily in public material or emails.

12Changes to this policy

The revision date and version are shown at the top. If the information handled, purposes or external services change, this policy is updated alongside the actual processing and material changes are explained clearly.

Advance notice or consent procedures are followed where required by law. Future revisions will maintain a record of when the text changed and access to earlier versions.
